Nav Canada to Expand Its ADS-B Deployment with Sensis Ground Units
Nav Canada will expand its Sensis ADS-B (automatic dependent
surveillance-broadcast) ground-based transceiver deployment to include the
coasts of Labrador and Baffin Island, in addition to the current Sensis
installations at Vancouver Harbour, Fort St. John and Hudson Bay.
John Crichton, Nav Canada's president and CEO, said, "Providing
ADS-B coverage in these areas is the next step in our nation-wide deployment of
the next generation of air traffic surveillance."
Nav Canada expects the Sensis
ADS-B 1090 ground-based transceivers placed along the northeast coast of
Canada, will provide the necessary accurate and reliable position information to
enable reduced lateral separation.
Sensis says it fielded the first operational ADS-B transceivers for both the Mode S extended squitter (1090
ES) and UAT (universal access transceiver) datalinks, and has deployed more than
1,300 multilateration/ADS-B sensors worldwide. 03-11-2008. |
