NATS to Use Barco's Arrival Management System at London Airports
Barco will integrate its arrival management software with the existing air traffic control system at London's Heathrow,
Gatwick, Luton, Stansted and City airports, under a contract with NATS, the
U.K.'s ANSP (air navigation service provider).
Barco's
Arrival Manager is part of its OSYRIS COTS (commercial off-the-shelf)
product suite. It helps optimize traffic flow by automatically determining
arrival sequences based on preferred arrival times and known operational
constraints.
Chris Odam, NATS director of supply chain management, said "[The tool] will integrate with our operational systems to give
us the means to smooth the flow of aircraft, reduce stacking and improve delay,"
and added that NATS is working with Barco to tailor this product for the
"special demands of the London terminal maneuver area."
Barco expects the London system will be fully operational in late 2008. 03-14-2008. |
