MountainScope ADS-B Displays Surpass 100,000 Hours of Use
PCAvionics, which has been working with the FAA's Capstone program since 2003 to develop portable ADS-B
(automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast) displays, says its MountainScope
pocket PC has over 100,000 hours of use.
In the last four years, working as a partner with
ADS-B Technologies,
PCAvionics has supplied over 120 ADS-B cockpit display tablets to flight
schools in China, which have logged over 250,000 hours, of which 100,000 also used
MountainScope.
The California-based company says it is working with the North Carolina Department of Transportation
(NCDOT), and ADS-B Technologies, to further refine and enhance its ADS-B mapping
technology. NCDOT started a program to install ground-based UAT (universal
access transceiver) ADS-B ground stations in that state, which are being
installed over much of the U.S. east coast.
According to PCAvionics, several other countries are in the process of setting up similar ADS-B systems.
