Moscow's Domodedovo Chooses SITA's Passenger Handling Systems
Moscow's Domodedovo airport has selected SITA's self-service
passenger check-in kiosks and shared-use agent workstation positions to handle
its expected 18% growth in passengers this year.
The airport, which is Russia's largest and also is the largest in
Eastern Europe, handled close to 19 million passengers in 2007 and is expecting
to handle 22 million in 2008.
To deliver passenger services in the face of this growth, the
airport has selected SITA's AirportConnect Open CUTE (common use terminal
equipment) workstations and CUSS (common use self-service) kiosks to free up
both passenger handling space and agent check-in positions. In addition,
Domodedovo Handling, the handling agent at the airport, will use SITA's
departure control services so mid-size and smaller airlines can offer
self-service check-in without large investments.
AirportConnect Open is SITA's latest generation IATA CUTE-compliant passenger processing system that supports
proprietary and Web-based applications on multi-user check-in and boarding gate
workstations, with shared peripherals.
SITA currently manages some 30,000 CUTE workstations for 285
customers in more than 200 airport locations worldwide, checking-in an estimated
580 million passengers a year.
Domodedovo is used by 76 partner airlines, which fly to more than 220 destinations in Russia and
world-wide. The airport is undergoing a major expansion; by 2012 the new T2
terminal will be completed, this will increase the airport's capacity by 6
million passengers per year. 03-02-2008. |
