Mexicana Enhancing Communications and Flight Following with ARINC
Mexicana is deploying three new flight communications and information services from ARINC to enhance the operations of its 60-plane fleet.
The airline has installed ARINC's GLOBALink/VHF datalink service, and is launching ARINC's OpCenter message management service, along with ARINC's WebASD aircraft situational display for geographical flight following. Both OpCenter and WebASD are Web-enabled, and will be integrated into the airline's operational control center in Mexico City.
OpCenter's message service gives aircrews, dispatchers, and other appropriate personnel a convenient and flexible way to read, reply to, filter, sort, forward, and archive messages from any Internet connection. It also receives and stores clearances sent by air traffic control, and delivers them electronically to aircraft on demand.
WebASD automatically displays the near real-time locations of aircraft on instrument flight plans using radar tracking information from the FAA's ASDI (aircraft situation display for industry), and from datalink reports. The system can display multiple groups of aircraft on map overlays along with flight data, such as ETAs, and NEXRAD (next generation radar) weather overlays, to help dispatchers and other flight managers with their decision-making. 01-22-2005. |
