Mercury Computer FLIR SVS into VistaNav's EFBs

Mercury Computer Systems has integrated a FLIR (forward looking infrared) display into two new EFB (electronic flight bag) platforms for VistaNav's SVS (synthetic vision system).

While both the CIS-2000 and CIS-2200 (link not currently available) Mercury cockpit information systems qualify as Class II EFB (electronic flight bag) systems, Mercury claims their capabilities extend beyond the traditional in that they also are designed to integrate synthetic vision, flight planning, performance data, and now, FLIR.  In addition they also have Mercury's built-in attitude reference system with WAAS (wide area augmentation system) GPS (ARS/GPS), which delivers location and attitude information to VistaNav's three-dimensional synthetic vision software.

The FLIR image has been integrated as a display option within the VistaNav SVS 3D/2D split-view navigation screen.  This provides a FLIR image superimposed with aircraft attitude information within the three-dimensional pane and VistaNav's two-dimensional navigation information with TAWS (terrain awareness and warning system) on the 2D pane.

Both the CIS-2000 and CIS-2200 are qualified for Kollsman's GAViS, and EVS II FLIR systems, but are designed to accept video from a variety of camera sources and can be integrated with FLIR systems from a variety of manufacturers, according to Mercury.

Introductory pricing for the FLIR interface kit or option is US$1,580.  09-28-2007.
