Lyon Airport to Get Thales ADS-B Vehicle Tracking System
The technical department
of DSNA, the French ANSP (air navigation services provider), has awarded
Thales a contract to implement a cooperative ADS-B (automatic dependent
surveillance-broadcast) system to track surface vehicles on Lyon-Saint
Exupéry's airport.
The contract calls for
Thales to deliver its
ADS-B AS-680 ground stations and its Mosquito ADS-B vehicle transmitters,
and integrate them with the airport's existing A-SMGCS (advanced - surface
movement guidance and control system) based on Thales'
STREAMS A-SMGCS.
The DSNA deployed a
similar configuration at Toulouse as part of the European
EMMA (environmental) project, which showed ADS-B with a 1090 datalink to
be operationally suitable for this purpose.
Thales says the system
will be delivered this year and will be ready to cooperatively track
appropriately equipped aircraft and other vehicles.
Vehicle tracking systems based on Thales'
Mosquito and AS-680 are already - or about to be - in operation at Astana,
Kazakhstan, and South Korea's Incheon, Seoul. 02-21-2007. |
