Lynx Aviation Selects Rockwell Collins Head-up Guidance for Q400s
Lynx Aviation, a wholly
owned subsidiary of Frontier Holdings, will install Rockwell Collins' HGS
(head-up guidance system) on its fleet of Bombardier Q400s. The first
aircraft should have the equipment installed by the end of July.
Lynx will use Rockwell
Collins' HGS-4100 (see
more technical specification information), which presents flight
symbology on a glass combiner in the pilot's forward field of view. The
system will expand the operational capability of the Q400, including
category-III approaches down to 600 feet RVR (runway visual range), and
takeoffs in visibilities as low as 300 feet RVR at Category III airports. It
can also enable lower-than-standard category-I approach minima down to 1600
feet RVR. 05-26-2007. |
