Lufthansa Evaluating Goodrich EFB Laptop Docking Station

Lufthansa Airlines is evaluating Goodrich Corporation's new laptop docking station EFB (electronic flight bag) on one of its A340s.

The Goodrich EFB system, which can be used during all phases of flight, includes two touch-screen displays, two laptop docking stations and an installation kit.  The docking stations provide aircraft power, ARINC 429 (a technical standard for commercial aircraft data buses), and Ethernet and USB (universal serial bus) interfaces between aircraft systems and the laptop computers.  They also provide a high resolution video output signal to the EFB display.

Goodrich says its docking system complements its own traditional class 2 and 3 EFBs that use both removable and fixed installation platforms.  06-19-2007.
