Jeppesen Flight Planning System to Offer GPS RAIM Prediction
Jeppesen has added a RAIM (receiver autonomous integrity monitoring) request to its flight planning
service that will enable its customers to comply with a new requirement to add a
RAIM prediction report to their flight plan. Aircraft operators, who use GPS as
a primary navigation method, will be required to comply with this rule by March 31,
2008.
RAIM technology assesses the integrity of GPS signals, and thus, the accuracy of airborne GPS navigation
equipment.
Jeppesen's
JetPlan customers can plan their route of flight and with one click submit a
RAIM prediction request. The system's algorithms generate a prediction for the
entire route, including the departure and arrival airports. RAIM predictions for
individual airports can be requested as well.
If any section of the route has an outage lasting longer than five minutes, the section of the route and
timeframe are highlighted in the report. If there are no outages, the report
simply states that a check was performed and no outages are expected. The route
will need to be re-planned if an outage is predicted to last beyond five
minutes. 03-11-2008. |
