Irish Aviation Authority Joins Nordic ATM Service Concept
The Irish Aviation
Authority (IAA) has joined the ANSPs (air navigation service providers) of
Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Finland and Estonia in a cooperative
undertaking known as the Nordic Air Traffic Management Service Concept (MoC).
The six Nordic ANSPs
formed the MoC last year as the first step toward a more user friendly
service, said Knut Skaar, the chief executive of
Avinor, the ANSP of Norway, who welcomed the
IAA's participation, and noted the group's intentions are aligned with
the
Single European Sky (SES)
initiative. Eamonn Brennan, IAA's CEO,
indicated that his organization's joining is the catalyst through which the
Nordic alliance is being transformed into a North European alliance. "We
are very committed to the process and see it as another positive step
towards co-operation between ANSPs," Mr. Brennan said.
The purpose and overall
objective of the MoC is to provide harmonized and cost efficient services to
the customers, with a constant focus on safety, cost and quality of the
service, according to a press release announcing the IAA's action, and
should be seen as contributing to the SES, the Common ATM Service Concept
and the European ATM Master Plan to be developed within Europe's
SESAR project. 02-16-2007. |
