Honeywell on Track to Certify First SVS on Gulfstream Models
Honeywell is preparing to certify its SVS (synthetic vision system) on
Gulfstream's G350, G450, G500 and G550 by the end of 2007. Deliveries of the
technology, which Gulfstream will offer as an option, are expected to begin
in the first quarter of 2008.
The Honeywell system, which Gulfstream describes as its Synthetic Vision-Primary
Flight Display (SV-PFD), will be the first application of Honeywell's
Integrated Primary Flight Display (IPFD) system. It has been designed to
integrate into Gulfstream's
PlaneView cockpit, which features Honeywell's Primus Epic architecture.

The IPFD fuses a display of surface terrain generated from Honeywell's EGPWS
(enhanced ground proximity warning system) and a high-performance
graphics generator, with advanced HUD (head-up display) symbology to
improve the pilot's situational awareness.
Bob Smith, Honeywell's vice president, advanced technology, said his company
believes that when combined with its terrain database, its IPFD "will
provide the flight crew awareness of terrain, obstacle and runway
information similar to what they get under visual weather conditions
under any weather conditions." 09-26-2007. |
