Honeywell Offering Upgrades for Primus and SPZ-Series Avionics
Honeywell will offer LCD (liquid crystal display) upgrades for its Primus and SPZ-series
of avionic systems for business jets.
The new DU-875 and DU-885 multi-function cockpit displays (no link to Honeywell's
Website is currently available for these items) will enable such features as
advanced charts, maps and graphics on the
Primus 1000, 2000 and 2000XP as well as the SPZ-8400, 8500, and some
SPZ-8000 avionics systems, Honeywell says. The displays that were developed
exclusively for Honeywell by
Barco, also offer growth capability for next-generation communication,
navigation, surveillance and air traffic management upgrades.
The
technology will enable
XM graphical weather, electronic charts, maps and video displays, said
Honeywell, all of which will reduce aircraft weight and cooling requirements.
Rob Wilson, the president of Honeywell's business and general aviation unit, noted also that "Replacing our
existing CRT displays with LCDs decreases downtime and expense and removes the
need for additional pilot training required during a traditional full cockpit
replacement." 09-28-2007. |
