Honeywell Offering RNP SAAAR Services for Business Aviation

Honeywell says it will help business jet operators utilize RNP SAAAR (required navigation performance special aircraft and aircrew authorization required) procedures by validating databases and offering consulting services.

The company has applied for a consultancy designation from the FAA that will allow it to help operators meet RNP SAAAR performance standards required to fly the procedures.  It is also offering customers a new database validation service to help them comply with RNP SAAAR data integrity requirements.

RNP is a key component of the U.S. NextGen (next generation air transportation system) navigation system.  It utilizes global positioning and inertial reference system navigation, allowing aircraft to fly predetermined paths loaded in their flight management computers.  RNP SAAAR refers to unique approach procedures that allow more flexibility in their design to achieve greater operation benefits, such as lower minimums, based on a specified level of performance and capability.  09-25-2007.
