Honeywell Offering Business-Jet FMS Upgrades for RNP
Honeywell plans to offer FMS (flight management system) upgrades to help business jet
operators utilize emerging GPS-based approaches including RNP (required
navigation performance) SAAAR (special aircraft and aircrew authorization
required), procedures, and WAAS (wide area augmentation system) LPV (localizer
performance with vertical guidance).
The upgraded
FMS units also will accommodate FANS (future air navigation system) oceanic
procedures when ADS (automatic dependent surveillance) and datalink
communications are added.
The company plans to complete
the FMS 7.1 for its
Primus Epic and 6.1 software upgrades for its
FMZ-2000
system next year. Separately it has announced plans to help business jet
operators
achieve RNP capability
by validating databases and offering consulting services, and says it has
conducted RNP evaluation
work with Jeppesen at Morristown, New Jersey.
