Honeywell Developing New GA Multi-Function Display
Honeywell is developing a new MFD (multi function display) for general aviation that will incorporate
GPS and WAAS (wide area augmentation system) capability as well as a new
software-based VHF radio for communications and navigation.
The Bendix/King
KSN 770 MFD will feature a graphical interface, called INAV GA,
originally designed for business aircraft cockpits, that will support WAAS
and LPV (localizer performance with vertical guidance) approaches, but also
will display datalinked weather and traffic information, weather radar
returns, EGPWS (enhanced ground proximity warning system) alerts and
warnings, and navigation charts.

The KSN 770 has a 5.7" diagonal AMLCD (active matrix liquid crystal display)
in a landscape configuration, with a pilot interface that includes
traditional hard keys, line select keys, display-based dedicated keys
and a CCD (cursor control device) similar to that used in high end
business jets.
Honeywell expects to certify the system in late 2008, and says the unit
will be competitively priced with similar WAAS receivers. 07-31-2007. |
