Henry Krakowski Named FAA ATO's New Chief Operating Officer
Captain Henry P. (Hank) Krakowski has been named the new chief operating officer
of the FAA's ATO (air traffic organization). He is scheduled to start his new
position on October 1st. He joins the agency after nearly 30 years
at United Airlines where he was most recently the carrier's vice president of
flight operations. Previously, he was United's vice president of corporate
safety, security and quality assurance.
Mr. Krakowski will lead the ATO's 35,000 controllers, technicians, engineers,
and support personnel, and oversee its operational and financial performance, as
well as the FAA's research and acquisition programs. Currently, a B-737
captain, Mr. Krakowski, also as flown B-747s, B-727s, DC-10s and DC-8s, He also
held various other positions within United's operations, including director of
flight crew resources and director of flight operations control.
For the past two years, he served as co-chair of the Commercial Aviation Safety
Team (CAST). In addition, he has served as chairman of the Star Alliance Safety
Advisory Group, held numerous positions with the Air Line Pilots Association,
and was a manager at two previous airlines.
Mr. Krakowski holds a master's degree in business and management from National-Louis University and a
bachelor's degree in aircraft maintenance engineering from St. Louis University. 09-19-2007. |
