HelicoptersNZ to Use SkyTrac Satcom and Flight Following New Zealand's HelicoptersNZ has selected SkyTrac's satellite communication and flight following system to help manage its fleet of 39 helicopters that operate in remote offshore areas to support the oil industry. HelicoptersNZ, which is New Zealand's largest helicopter company, operates Bell 212s, 412s and 206B JetRanger IIIs, a number of Eurocopter AS350 Squirrels, and an AustaWestland 139. Since the aircraft are often flying beyond the range of VHF ground stations, HelicoptersNZ wanted SkyTrac's Iridium-based satcom and flight following to ensure their position is always known, and voice and text communication links are always available. 04-17-2008. |
