Harris Corporation Licenses Datalink Technology to VT Miltope

Harris Corporation has agreed to license patents to VT Miltope for two of its core wireless communications' inventions that will allow Miltope to offer its aviation customers a wireless LAN (local area network) for transferring data to and from their aircraft.

One of the Harris Corporation's patents covers a wireless datalink that supports flight and maintenance applications such as quality assurance, electronic flight bags and in-flight entertainment, and the other pertains to sending engine performance and monitoring data between aircraft and ground-based systems.

Thomas Dickinson, VT Miltope's chief executive officer, said the agreement will facilitate his company's ability to offer its airline, business aviation and military customers a TWLU (terminal Wireless LAN unit) for datalinking information to and from the aircraft.  12-27-2007.
