Gulfstream Selects Rockwell Collins as Future HGS Supplier
Gulfstream Aerospace will
feature a new Rockwell Collins' HGS (head-up guidance system) as standard
equipment on its G450 and G550 aircraft, and optional equipment on its G150,
G200, G350 and G500 models starting in 2009.
Pres Henne, Gulfstream
Aerospace's senior vice president of programs, engineering and test, said
"This is the first time we are designing an advanced head-up display and
guidance system for our entire family of Gulfstream aircraft. Many features
and operations will be common to the entire fleet. It will also allow us to
develop and host other advanced vision technologies, such as synthetic
vision, when they become available."
Gulfstream opted for
Rockwell Collins' new HGS-6000, which has an advanced AMLCD
(active-matrix liquid crystal display) that it believes will provide the
brightest image over the widest HUD field-of-view in the industry while
improving head clearance for the pilot by more than 50 percent.
The new all-digital display will allow the incorporation of
Gulfstream's EVS (enhanced vision system), which it already offers, but
is also designed to support future technologies such as synthetic vision and
surface guidance. 05-24-2007. |
