Garmin Develops VFR Mode-S Transponder to Meet European Requirement
Garmin (Europe) is
introducing a new transponder developed to meet Europe's requirement for
mode-S capability for aircraft operating under VFR (visual flight rules)
after March 31, 2008.
The European unit of
Garmin designed the GTX 328 to be a lower-cost, straightforward retrofit for
VFR/class-2 aircraft where there is adequate size and power consumption
support. The unit retains many of the features of Gamin's popular
GTX 330, and is built on 330's receiver and transmitter technology, but
won't offer TIS (traffic information services), EHS (enhanced mode S) or
ADS-B (automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast) functionality.

have a suggested list price of $2,995. 02-05-2007. |
