Forward Vision and Max-Viz Form Alliance; Announce New GA EVS
Forward Vision and Max-Viz
say they have entered into a strategic relationship to bring infrared-based
EVS (enhanced vision system) technology to "every" general aviation cockpit,
and are already introducing their first product for that market segment.
(Commercially, Forward
Vision spells its registered name as "Forward.Vision.")
Describing Max-Viz as
"the EVS industry leader," Forward Vision's president, Patrick Farrell, said
his company is looking forward to working with Max-Viz "to bring the
advantages of the latest technology in EVS to the general aviation fleet."
Jim Tuttle, the president
and CEO of Max-Viz, pointed to his company's experience in bring EVS
technology to business jets and rotary-wing aircraft. "Together we will be
well positioned to better serve the general aviation market than
individually," Mr. Tuttle said.
Currently, over 160 Max-Viz
systems and 80 Forward Vision systems are flying worldwide.
The two companies are
already announcing that the Max-Viz EVS-100, developed for business jets,
has been repackaged for general aviation users. The new system, which is
smaller than the original and weighs less than 1.5 lbs., is designed to be
easily integrated with glass-panel displays, and its long-wave infrared
sensor is small enough to mount like a fuselage antenna, or even behind a
