Flight Explorer and Metron Team on Tactical Rescheduling Tool
Flight Explorer is teaming with Metron Aviation to integrate Merton's ESM (enhanced
substitution module) into Flight Explorer's FE Professional ASD (aircraft
situation display). Flight Explorer also will market Metron's ESM to its own
commercial and business aviation customers as a VAR (value-added-reseller).
Metron developed ESM
as an optional add-on to the FAA's
FSM (flight schedule monitor) -
which Metron also developed - for the agency's CDM (collaborative decision making)
program. FSM is used by FAA and Nav Canada traffic flow managers, along with
participating CDM operators, to monitor the balance between airport capacity and
demand, model various initiatives to manage traffic flow, and evaluate
alternatives.
ESM automatically provides resource alerts, delay previews, and other tools to
assist CDM participants to strategically cancel affected flights and make
possible substitutions. The tool also includes algorithms for automating
repetitive tasks and for evaluating complex priority scenarios to choose
preferred swaps. In addition, it offers a messaging functionality for
communicating changes both to the ETMS (enhanced traffic management system) and
within an airline's operation center.
By integrating ESM with Flight Explorer, operators also will be able to receive
real-time proactive alerts in their
ASD application if their flights might be affected by an AFP or GDP
(airspace flow or ground delay program).
The fully integrated solution is scheduled for launch in the 1st Quarter of 2008. 08-02-2007. |
