Five Airports Have Selected Barco's Arrival Management Software This Year
Barco says eight airports have decided to integrate its arrival management application
into their terminal systems, including five so far in 2007.
The software is part of Barco's
OSYRIS product suite
that was first implemented at Zurich in 2001. The system automatically
determines arrival sequences based on preferred arrival times and a given
aircraft's operational constraints.
Since its Switzerland introduction, the system has evolved with new capabilities, the
company says, thanks to its COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) architecture which
allows it to be easily adapted to accommodate local procedures and seamlessly
integrated into existing ATM (air traffic management) systems.
This past March, Barco's OSYRIS was operationally approved for the arrival management system at
Singapore's Changi Airport, where some of its core capabilities include
routing advice, runway allocation and holding advice.
Then in April of this year, Avinor, Norway's ANSP (air navigation service provider), selected the system for
three airports in southeast Norway, including Oslo's Gardermoen. The
contract with Avinor included integrating OSYRIS into the Norwegian ATM system
to enable the efficient management of arrival traffic within the Oslo AoR (area
of responsibility).
Finally, as
recently reported in Flt Tech Online, Hong Kong's Civil Aviation Department
(CAD) contracted with Barco in June to provide an OSYRIS-based arrival
sequencing system.
The OSYRIS product line also includes a 4D trajectory prediction engine to provide
ATC controllers profile calculations, taking into account aircraft type,
performance, and weight, as well as operating procedures and preferences, and
meteorological information.
The OSYRIS departure manager, Barco's newest addition, has been designed to optimize departure sequences.
