FAA Selects ITT Team to Implement NextGen ADS-B
The FAA has selected a team led by ITT
Corporation to implement its nationwide ADS-B (automatic dependent
surveillance-broadcast) structure. ADS-B is one of the most important
components of the agency's highly anticipated Next Generation Air Transportation
System (NextGen).
The contract - worth approximately $1.8 billion - stipulates that ITT will build the ADS-B ground stations and own
and operate the equipment. The FAA will pay subscription charges for ADS-B
broadcasts transmitted to properly equipped aircraft and air traffic control
facilities.
ITT is to have the system ready for use by 2010 and provide coverage over the entire U.S. by 2013.
Also on ITT's team are: AT&T, Thales; WSI, Corp; Science
Applications International Corporation (SAIC); PriceWaterhouseCoopers; Aerospace
Engineering; Sunhillo; Comsearch; Mission Critical Solution (MCS) of Tampa;
Pragmatics; Washington Consulting Group; Aviation Communications and
Surveillance Systems (ACSS); NCR Corporation; and L-3 Avionics Systems and
Sandia Aerospace. 08-30-2007. |
