FAA Gives Chelton Flight Systems Authority to Self-Approve STCs
The FAA has given Chelton Flight Systems the authority to perform its own STCs (supplemental type certifications) under the
agency's ODA (organization designation authorization) program.
The agency established the ODA program in August, 2006, to make aircraft system certifications more efficient and effective, by
using experienced manufacturers that have considerable experience and a
detailed, documented competence in part-by-part compliance with regulatory
standards. The FAA of course continues to maintain oversight of the process.
As an STC ODA,
Chelton Flight Systems is now eligible to apply to the FAA for
responsibility for multiple aspects of future certification projects.
