Eurowing Equipping CRJ700s with Rockwell Collins' HGS
Eurowing is equipping its new fleet of CRJ700s with Rockwell Collins' HGS
(head-up guidance systems). Deliveries of the aircraft to Eurowing began last
month.
The HGS-4200 will give Eurowing's CRJ700s CAT III approach minima thereby reducing
their approach decision height capability from 100 to 50 feet and their RVR
(runway visual range) from 550 meters to 200 meters. Additionally, the LVTO (low
visibility takeoff) capability of HGS reduces the minimum RVR required for
takeoff from 125 meters to 75 meters. Equipping with
HGS is the only CAT III solution for CRJs, according to Rockwell Collins.
The HGS-4200 displays critical flight information in the pilot's forward field of view. Aircraft flight path
and acceleration symbols and command guidance appear overlaying the outside
scene allowing precision hand-flown approaches, enhancing situational awareness
and improving aircraft energy management. Additional features include the
display of runway remaining, unusual attitude recovery symbology and an angle of
attack indicator. 10-30-2007. |
