Eurocontrol Taking Steps to Ensure Future ATM Civil-Military Interoperability Eurocontrol has commenced workshop discussions, with the support of the European Defense Agency (EDA), on how to ensure the interoperability of civil and military operations in the next-generation ATM (air traffic management) envisaged by SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research Program). The workshop's approximately 140 representatives, from a host of civil and military organizations, concluded that the military needed to be involved in all processes in order to achieve the interoperability, system integration and standardization, which are vital to facilitate military operations within SESAR structures. They also acknowledged the military's need to conduct special missions, including research and development projects. 12-11-2007. |
