Eurocontrol Head Calls for Global ATM Performance Targets
Víctor M. Aguado, the
director general of Eurocontrol, told an ICAO audience this week that the
European air traffic management system has benefited from systematically
measuring and reviewing continent-wide performance, and suggested a similar
system could be usefully developed on a global level.
In his speech to the
Global ICAO Symposium on Air Navigation Performance, Mr. Aguado said that in
a European context, performance centers on the concepts of safety, capacity,
efficiency and sustainability. Substantial progress has been made in all
these areas, he said.
Mr. Aguado referenced a
new Eurocontrol brochure,
"European Air Traffic Management: Our Commitment to Performance," which
headlights the results that have been achieved there. He told his audience
"the global reach of air transport underlines the need for a globally
optimized air navigation system, and to that end, Eurocontrol is looking
forward to working with partners around the world to share goals and targets
for air traffic management at regional and global level." 03-31-2007. |
