Eurocontrol Alerting Countries about "Safety Risk" Flights
Eurocontrol is now alerting authorities in
European states where aircraft deemed to pose a safety risk are either
attempting to depart or intending to land.
Eurocontrol's Central Flow Management Unit
(CFMU), which collects and redispatches all flight plans for flights
entering, overflying or departing from Europe, will issue
an alert if any company or aircraft that is listed by national
authorities as posing a potential safety risk.
National authorities that are affected by
either the departure or arrival of such a flight will receive a warning,
allowing them to take appropriate action such as initiating an
inspection, preventing the aircraft from taking off, or even keeping
them from entering their territory. 05-15-2006.
