Etihad's New B-777-300ERs to come with Boeing's System Monitoring
Etihad
Airways' five new B-777ERs will have Boeing's aircraft
system monitoring installed when they began to be delivered
in the first half of this year.
Boeing's
Airplane Health Management (AHM) both monitors the
aircraft's systems for anomalies and trends, and provides
prognostications to enable an airline to better address
potential problems before they force planes out of service. During a flight, AHM gathers data about systems on the
airplane and relays that information in real time via
datalink to personnel on the ground, allowing for appropriate
technicians to be better prepared.
Boeing
says AHM integrates seamlessly with its avionics-integrated
(class 3) EFB (electronic flight bag), its
MyBoeingFleet and its
Maintenance Performance Toolbox.
Etihad
will be Boeing's first customer to receive AHM on an
airplane it will be flying for the first time. 02-11-2006.
