EMTEQ's New STCs to Allow Retrofits on KC-10s, A300s and B767s
The FAA granted EMTEQ
STCs (supplemental type certificates) for a dual Artex C406-N ELT (emergency locator transmitter) on KC-10s. In addition,
the Wisconsin-based system integrator is expecting approval from EASA for an
ELT installation on A300s, and for an ELS/EHS (Mode S elementary/enhanced
surveillance) upgrade on B-767-200/300s.
A flight recorder upgrade
is needed for certain aircraft to comply with U.S. FAR (federal air
regulation) 121.344/129.20. ELS/EHS is being mandated by Eurocontrol for
civil aircraft having a maximum take-off mass greater than 5,700 kg
(kilograms) or a maximum cruising true airspeed in excess of 250 knots, and
will become effective first in Germany, the United Kingdom and France.
EMTEQ owns more than 20 STCs for major OEM (original equipment)
manufacturer ELT installations, and more than 100 overall for communication,
navigation and interior LED (light-emitting -diode) lighting systems. Its
other McDonnell-Douglas STCs cover models from DC-6s to MD-11s and
MD-80/90s. 01-24-2007. |
