EASA Approves NavAero's EFB for SAS B-737s
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has granted a STC (supplemental type certificate) to Saab Aerotech
Aircraft Services for navAero's EFB (electronic flight bag) on all classic and
next-generation B-737 models from 300s to 900s. SAS cooperated in the project.
SAS will use navAero's
t•BagC2² EFB on it aircraft to support its participation in the NUP II+ (NEAN
(North European ADS (automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast network update
program) VDLM4 (VHF digital link mode 4) and CPDLC (controller-pilot datalink
communications) operational trials at Stockholm's Arlanda airport.
NUP II+ is the first project to use the potential of 4D (three dimensions plus time) trajectory, or "future
intention" of the aircraft, to improve traffic flow and facilitate optimum
flight paths.
NavAero's hardware is designed to run any airline-specific software applications or commercially available
software that uses Microsoft's Windows XP Professional operating system. The
t•BagC2² also allows operators to choose a wide range of communications options
for the wirelessly moving data on-to and off-of an aircraft. 03-09-2008. |
