Dublin Airport Getting Era Surface Surveillance
The Irish Aviation
Authority (IAA) has selected Era's MSS (multilateration surface
surveillance) technology for Dublin's airport.
According to ERA, the IAA
wanted additional surveillance to support its A-SMGCS (advanced - surface
movement guidance and control system) in the same manner as its existing
surface management radar (SMR), but with better coverage and improved
capability. Dublin has plans for additional infrastructure, including
parallel runways, so the flexibility of multilateration surveillance was an
important consideration.
ERA says its
multilateration technology provides higher accuracy, greater update
rates, better coverage and improved reliability when compared to
conventional radar, and will do so at a much lower initial cost and with
lower annual maintenance costs. 02-20-2007. |
