Delta Connection Academy and SAMI Partnering on Depressurization Training
The Southern
AeroMedical Institute (SAMI) is partnering with the Delta Connection
Academy to jointly develop and operate a cabin depressurization training
program for pilots and flight attendants.
The training program,
which will incorporate computer-based simulation with high-altitude
physiological training, is the first of its kind in the U.S., according
to the Institute and the Academy, which is a subsidiary of Delta Air
Lines. Recently, the two partners have enhanced the program even
further by integrating simulated air traffic control procedures into its
training scenarios.
Initially the
training will be offered exclusively to
Delta Connection Academy
students, but with the joint development of
computer-based training (CBT) and the publishing of a book specifically
focused on high-altitude flight operations, the partnership envisions
marketing the training directly to airlines.
The course will be
operated at
SAMI's Melbourne, Florida, campus by Dr. Paul Buza, who is the
Institute's founder and medical director, and also a board certified
neurologist and FAA aviation medical examiner. 02-20-2007. |
