DGAC Certifies CAE's New Visual System on A320
France's civil aviation authority, the DGAC, has certified CAE's Tropos -6000 visual system and LCoS
(liquid crystal on silicon) projectors on a CAE-built A320 FFS (full-flight
simulator) for Air France. CAE says this certification of a fixed-matrix LCoS
is an industry first.
The CAE-built A320 FFS is currently installed at Air France's training center in Paris and is now ready
for training.
The Barco-supplied SIM 7C LCoS projectors feature a resolution of 3.2 MPixel (megapixel), which is over 50
percent higher than conventional high definition systems, according to CAE, to
create unprecedented image brightness, resolution and contrast. It also includes
special capabilities to minimize smearing, a common artifact with fixed-matrix
projectors.
According to CAE, its
Tropos-6000 visual system enables highly realistic immersive environment
simulation, including sophisticated weather modeling, database content and
flight training features.
Other CAE Developments
In other developments, CAE launched its subscription-based
True Airport database content service last month, which is designed to keep
its customers' visual information current, and during the summer, it introduced
True Environment that offers what CAE describes as "dynamic and
comprehensive" ATC realism for its FFSs and flight training devices.
