DFS and NATS Upgrade Their Surveillance Data Test and Reference Tools
The ANSPs (air navigation service providers) of Germany and Britain, DFS and NATS, have upgraded their
RAPS-II ASTERIX surveillance data test and reference tools with COMSOFT's next
generation RAPS-3 system.
ASTERIX (all-purpose structured Eurocontrol surveillance information exchange) is the international
standard format for surveillance data that allows their use in a range of
applications. It was defined in the late eighties to overcome the problems
inherent in having a variety of national and vendor-specific formats and
protocols.
RAPS-3 is the latest release of RAPS-II. COMSOFT says it hosts the only
Eurocontrol qualified software package of this kind and is also recommended by
the RDE-FG (surveillance data exchange – focus group) that is responsible for
changes to ASTERIX. The product is capable of auto configuration; it supports
multiple user environments; and can be controlled by third-party tools in
automated test environments. 02-05-2008. |
