DAPRA Asks Goodrich Unit to Continue Developing Infrared Technology

The Microsystems Development Office of the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has asked Goodrich Corporation's Sensors Unlimited Inc. (SUI) to continue developing an emerging technology that that could be used in passive EVS (enhanced vision systems).

According to Edward Hart, a Goodrich vice president in charge of SUI's work on InGaAs (indium gallium arsenide) visible and shortwave infrared focal plane arrays, "the focus of this next phase of development will be to raise the resolution of the camera we developed in the first phase and make the imager more sensitive, allowing for better night vision capabilities."

Goodrich says its SUI team, based in Princeton, New Jersey, pioneered the design and production of shortwave infrared cameras and systems utilizing advanced InGaAs imaging technology used in commercial and military markets as well as other industrial, agricultural and scientific purposes.  08-25-2007.
