Czech Republic's New ATC Center Using ERA ADS-B
The Czech Republic's
new air traffic control center is using Era's multilateration and ADS-B
(automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast) system as part of the
secondary surveillance coverage around Prague.
According to Era,
Czech ANS (Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic), wanted a
system which would not only support current surveillance requirements,
but would allow for an orderly transition to 2015 and beyond, when it
will rely on a single, integrated ADS system.
The Czech service
provider adopted a wide-area multilateration strategy with this project
after its feasibility studies concluded that Era's
MSS system would not only outperform traditional secondary radar,
but have clear cost and benefit advantages as well.
Era says its Prague
system, which passed acceptance testing in December last year,
substantially exceeded its requested 80 nautical mile coverage, with a
range of 120 nautical miles, while fully complying with Eurocontrol's
standard surveillance parameters. Its accuracy and resolution in
Prague's FIR (flight information region) exceeds the capabilities of a
traditional secondary radar approach, and is even suitable for
monitoring approaches to parallel runways. 03-23-2007. |
