Continental to Use Sensis Tools to Help Manage Houston Ground Operations
Continental Airlines will
subscribe to Sensis' Aerobahn service to help manage its nearly 800 airside
ground operations at Houston Intercontinental.
The carrier will use
three components of Sensis' Web-based
Aerobahn, which collects multiple operational data in real-time,
including those from its
MDS (multistatic dependent surveillance) system, and transforms them
into more useable information.
QuickView gives managers quick and accurate access to the operational
status of the airport, and a real-time summary of arriving and departing
aircraft. It also allows a manager to set thresholds that will create
visual alerts when an aircraft meets or exceeds their definition.
TaxiView is real-time display that can improve surface situational
awareness - especially during periods of reduced visibility - to better
manage push backs and other ramp activity.
OpsView is a post-analysis tool that helps identify trends and areas
that potential efficiency and capacity might be realized.
Mark Moran, Continental's
executive vice president of operations, said the airline believes these
Aerobahn tools will enable its ramp controllers to make more informed and
effective tactical decisions regarding traffic flows into and out of the
ramp area, and reduce the variance between the optimum and actual taxi time
during both routine and irregular operations. "We expect to measure a
quantifiable reduction in airside operating costs," Moran said.
Sensis says its Aerobahn
service is already used by Northwest Airlines at Minneapolis-St. Paul and
Detroit's Metro, and by airport operator's Fraport at Frankfort, and Service
de la Navigation Aerienne at Paris Orly and Charles de Gaulle. 03-04-2007. |
