Continental to Offer Live TV and Wi-Fi Services on Some Domestic Flights
Continental Airlines will offer live, inflight satellite-based television and
Wi-Fi services from LiveTV on its "new generation aircraft" operating within
the continental U.S. beginning in January 2009.
Under its agreement with
LiveTV, Continental passengers on its B-737-700s, 800s, 900s and B-757-300s will have access to 36 channels of
television programming provided by
DIRECTV.
Continental will offer complimentary TV to all first-class
customers; economy-class passengers will be able to access the system by paying a $6 access fee.
In addition, Continental will offer complimentary Wi-Fi connectivity services allowing customers to access
email and instant messaging subject to LiveTV being able to offer the service,
