Cirrus Adds Novel Safety Upgrade to Avidyne MFD
Cirrus Design Corporation
has upgraded the Avidyne Entegra MFD (multifunction display) on its SR20s
and SR2s so that it displays three pages of personal inventory regarding
weather, flight planning, passenger briefing, limitations, and readiness to
fly, following an engine start.
The first new page,
titled "Envelope of Safety," graphically displays information critical to
safe flight decisions, Cirrus says.
The pages were developed
collaboratively with the Cirrus Owners and Pilots Association (COPA). The
weather and experience limitations are the same standards Cirrus uses for
dispatching all of its flights through its Cirrus Flying Club.
Cirrus co-founder and CEO
Alan Klapmeier said it was natural for the company to add the tool to
Avidyne's Entegra MFD, and added that as a Cirrus owner and pilot, "I
appreciate the friendly reminder to make sure that I am personally prepared
to fly myself and my passengers safely to our destination."
Cirrus owners can obtain
this latest software upgrade by contacting their local
Cirrus Authorized Service Center.
The resource, which Cirrus believes contains
information of value to all pilots regardless of airplane make or model, is
available as a free download at
