Cessna Makes ACSS TCAS Standard on High-End Business Jets

Cessna will install ACSS's TCAS 2000 traffic alert and collision avoidance system as standard equipment on its Citation X, XLS and Sovereign models.  ACSS is an L-3 Communications & Thales company.

Besides the regular functionality of the TCAS 2000, it is notable for its long range (up to 80 nm active, 100+ nm passive) and its ability to be upgraded for future enhancements, such as ADS-B (automatic dependence surveillance-broadcast).  It has also been coupled with ACSS's TAWS (terrain awareness warning system) to create the TēCAS, which has had orders of more than 1,500 units, according to ACSS.

ACSS says the TCAS 2000 is now onboard more than 9,000 aircraft.  04-29-2006.
