COMSOFT to Upgrade Ireland's ETFMS Gateways
COMSOFT will upgrade the Irish Aviation Authority's ETFMS
(enhanced tactical flow management system). ETFMS uses surveillance and
flight-plan data from cooperating ANSPs (air navigation service providers) to
provide IAA with a constantly updated representation of the traffic situation
over Europe and adjacent airspace.
The correlated position reports, along with information from
aircraft operators and metrological service providers, gives IAA a more precise
picture of traffic demand and the potential of overloading sectors, thereby
improving its ability to optimize slot allocations to better manage traffic
flows.
IAA ETFMS located in Dublin and Ballycasey interface with
Eurocontrol's CFMU (central flow management unit) in Brussels and Paris.
Since its inception in early 2002 the ETFMS network has expanded and now has about thirty European ACCs (area
control centers) delivering data to the CFMU. 03-09-2008. |
