COMSOFT to Install New Message Handling System in North Africa
COMSOFT says it will soon
install an AMHS (aeronautical telecommunication network message handling
system) in Morocco that will be the first operational system of this type on
the African continent, and will soon serve as an improved gateway connection
between North Africa and Europe.
According to COMSOFT, its
AIDA-NG (aeronautical integrated data exchange agent - next generation)
AMHS technology will soon replace the existing AFTN (aeronautical fixed
telecommunication network) systems currently in use all over the world.
The AFTN is used to
exchange messages and digital data between ANSPs (air navigation service
providers), aviation service providers, airport authorities, and government
agencies, and other aviation entities. It communicates such things as
aircraft operational information and messages regarding flight safety,
meteorology, flight regularity and aeronautical administration.
COMSOFT says its initial
step in the AMHS market was the installation of the first AMHS in the
Africa-Indian Ocean region in 2005, followed by the first-in-the-world
standardized AMHS link between Germany and Spain in February of 2006.
