CAE Electric-Motion Simulators Certified by JAA and JCAB
The European Joint
Aviation Authority (JAA) and the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) have
certified four CAE-built full-flight simulators (FFSs) with electric motion.
The four simulators - two
B-737-800s and one A320 built for the
Flight Simulation Company (FSC), along with one B-737-800 manufactured for Japan Airlines - are the first Airbus and Boeing
full-flight simulators with electric motion to ever receive Level D, the
highest performance rating for flight training equipment.
CAE says its all-electric motion system provides more accurate and
authentic pilot cues, and is more environmentally friendly than
hydraulic-based or hybrid electric-hydraulic motion systems. It also
consumes less energy and requires less maintenance.
The Canadian company
collaborated with
Moog FCS on the development of the motion system which features CAE's
true-fidelity motion cueing software to maximize the responsiveness and
fidelity of the electric actuators.
All three FSC simulators
have entered service at its Amsterdam training center; the Japan Airlines'
device will enter service at its training center in Tokyo sometime this
month. 04-08-2007. |
