Bombardier to Offer HUD/EVS as Option on Challenger 605
Bombardier will offer Rockwell Collins' HGS (head-up guidance system) along with its BEVS (Bombardier enhanced vision system) as a
new option for the Challenger 605.
The Challenger HUD/EVS option will use Rockwell Collins
HGS-6605, which is part of Rockwell's HGS-6600 series. The HUD uses AMLCD
(active-matrix liquid crystal display) technology to provide, what Rockwell
calls the "brightest image" over the "widest" field-of-view while significantly
improving head clearance.
The all-digital display will allow the pilot to see an integrated display of flight information and an infrared image from the
BEVS in almost all weather conditions, according to Rockwell Collins and
Bombardier.
The two companies expect the system to be certified on
the 605 by the FAA in the third quarter of fiscal year 2009.
Bombardier already offers Rockwell Collins'
HGS on the Challenger 604, CRJ and Q-series. 09-11-2007. |
