Boeing Selects AD Aerospace to Supply B-777 Cabin Camera

Boeing has selected AD Aerospace to supply a camera for its B-777 passenger models intended to give flight attendants a way of monitoring the cabin while they are seated for takeoffs and landings.

While traditionally it has been adequate for flight attendants to ensure that passengers are complying with safety requirements by doing a cabin walk-through immediately before takeoffs and landings, this procedure is problematic in some modern cabins - especially in first class areas that have individual mini-suites.

AD Aerospace's Direct View system uses one or more cameras installed in the ceiling of the cabin and linked to an LCD (liquid crystal display) monitor to provide flight attendants with a means of viewing the entire cabin area even while in their own seats near exit doors with their seat belts fastened.  04-27-2007.
