Barco's Arrival Management System Operational at Singapore's Changi

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has granted operational approval for an arrival management system at Singapore's Changi Airport implemented by a consortium made up of NCS Communications Engineering and Barco.  NCS Communications Engineering is a subsidiary of NCS Group.

The customized system, which is based on Barco's OSYRIS product line, helps controllers by continuously optimizing Changi's arrival sequences and balancing sector loads as well as adapting its capabilities online to the controller's mode of operation.

One of the system's core - and novel - capabilities is an automatic generation of en-route holding advice to avoid the higher cost of delays in the approach area.  In addition, the arrival management system provides automatic route and runway allocation depending on Changi's traffic situation.

Barco was responsible for the project's application software while NCS provided all hardware components.  NCS will also be responsible for future comprehensive maintenance services.

The system passed on online acceptance test this past March 2007, and has been operating since April.  08-10-2007.
