Barco Unveils New CDU for Multiple Integration Options
Barco has unveiled a new
generation of CDU (control display unit) that it says will offer "markedly
improved" image quality and modularity while "greatly" reducing the weight, size
and energy consumption of even its own previously supplied unit.
The company's new
CDMS-3000 introduces a flexible, open-system architecture and a wealth of
interfacing options. Its product family includes a civil CDMS-3739 (ARINC-739),
the military-oriented CDMS-3753 (combo ARINC-429 and MIL-STD-1553), and the
CDMS-3702, which hosts Barco's MOSArt. All versions feature a NVG (night vision
goggle) compliant 3 x 4 inch AMLCD (active matrix liquid crystal display) panel
with VGA (video graphics array) resolution, and various keyboard sizes and
options that can be form fitted to existing units.
Jean-Christophe Monfret,
Barco Avionics' program manager, says the CDMS-3000's
MOSArt software development platform can make it easy for system integrators
to develop and integrate their own FMS (flight management system) applications
or employ it for other purposes in a variety of aircraft and helicopters.
And it can be used as a data
loader too, according to Barco, including ones requiring compatibility with
ARINC-429 or an Ethernet, mass memory or a front-located USB (universal serial
bus). 06-23-2007. |
